We have done our best to correct this problem. It was brought to our attention that though our listing S1782 was cleaned - again thank you for that as we worked hard on fixing the problem. There are still IPs of past spammers that were removed from our system that are blocked. How do we need to go about having these IPs unblocked or removed from their records. I included a list of the IPs and the records below. Wisol has learned our lesson the hard way & do not support spam in anyway & we do our best to ensure it is not passed through our network. Any help suggestions to clean our network, we will gladly take, hear out. Thank you for your help guys! We have been in the situation before and worked our way out of it. In a perfect world Sales could refuse a client because of standards on another network. In a realistic one, the client has been working with us & has not been spamming through our network, there is no means for sales to remove them. I understand your point, but I would hope you could see ours as well. Thanks. Here is the response from a LART evidently quoted in SPEWS S1782: **The client has not been spamming through our system. Though he is a client we have setup our standards & the client is aware that should we have any problems with him he will be removed from our system. >network, I do not know what standards or procedures they have in place >or are implimenting or if they are working with the client. >We have been in the situation before and worked our way out of it. >In a perfect world Sales could refuse a client because of standards on >another network. Jeff, if you are saying that (a) Sales can sign up a customer that is allowed to spam and (b) operations or abuse personnel cannot cut that customer off, then I don't see your point. Your company will almost certain remain listed with SPEWS. Can you state clearly, without weasel words, that spamming clients will be shut down at the first evidence of spam? You have been dancing around this issue, with words like "implementing standards". In particular, you claim not to live in "a perfect world" where Sales could refuse a client. SPEWS isn't perfect, but they're working on it, which apparently your company is not. Regardless of whether you say it or not: If your company does not shut down spammers immediately, you will remain in SPEWS and the now proverbial "thousands of other blocklists". I'm not SPEWS, not even an admin, but I have been watching SPEWS since it started. When the he became a client I was not in charge of spam abuse so I do not know what checks were done etc.. but he became a client. When we were having problems & found it was due to spam etc.. I know they started to fix the problem & I know some people previously went about it the wrong way. When I was asked to work on, I agreed and did. This client was willing to work with us to correct the problem. He has been follwing our standards and we do our best to correct any issues that come up in regards to abuse with our network. We dont not support spam in anyways, but I cannot justify to Sales agents to remove them becuase they may be spamming from another network. As well being that we were in the position before where we were down & trying to clean our network and our name. If a client is spamming through a service they have with another account then by all means that company etc should do something about it. As to knowingly hosting spammers sites, I disagree with that, he has not been spamming with us. As I do not work for other companies I cannot say if they have or have not spammed or if they had I cannot say if they are cleaning up their act. We were proof that mistakes can be worked on & corrected & if the client is spamming, then by all means I do belive that they should be blocked. However they are not spamming through us so why must we be blocked? === Wisol post 4 === Path: uni-berlin.de!fu-berlin.de!news.maxwell.syr.edu!sn-xit-03!sn-xit-04 !sn-xit-06!sn-xit-09!supernews.com!postnews1.google.com!not-for-mail From: jbrown@wisol.com (J.Brown) Newsgroups: news.admin.net-abuse.email Subject: FollowUp To Your Comments/Suggestions Date: 7 Mar 2003 09:19:30 -0800 Organization: http://groups.google.com/ Lines: 24 Message-ID: <7a36fcdd.0303070919.441b75b0@posting.google.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: 66.46.188.147 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Trace: posting.google.com 1047057572 2098 127.0.0.1 (7 Mar 2003 17:19:32 GMT) X-Complaints-To: groups-abuse@google.com NNTP-Posting-Date: 7 Mar 2003 17:19:32 GMT Xref: uni-berlin.de news.admin.net-abuse.email:1934750 Hi again. First off thanks for your comments/suggestions. While we had cleaned things up, when somethings come up this is still a learning exp. for us also. I made a list of what has been said to bring to my manager to see what can be done about this case. As to resolve it & in the hopes that it doesn't come up again in the future. I will of course keep the boards posted on what happens with this account. If I could ask about the other listings, as they have all been long gone from our system.. could they be removed or is there something/way I should go about them as well. Steve M, Relay Tester & the others thanks for the feedback it was much appreciated & gives me something to use to further correct the problems. Thanks Guys. Jeff Brown abuse@wisol.com
